Epsom Japan has just released a portable coloured printer. Some of the features this little printer has are the ability to run on batteries with a mini display screen (2 or 2.5), bluetooth upgrade, IR port to print from portable devices among other features.

What is the "third space?"

In a paper written by Tracey Bretag,the third space refers to: the constructing and re-constructing of identity, to the fluidity of space, to the space where identity is not fixed... [It] is where we negotiate identity and become neither this nor that but our own. 'Third' is used to denote the place where negotiation takes place, where identity is constructed and re-constructed, where life in all its ambiguity is played out. (English, 2002)

Our students interact and communicate in the 'third space' daily. Through online games, social websites (such as mySpace), email, instant messaging, etc...

How are relationships built in the 'third space'? How can education find a fit in the 'third space'?

October 5/06 posting in this blog "Preparing Students for All Work Places"...the article this posting refers to talks about the 'third place'. A place where young entrepreneurs and new knowledge workers consider their office....coffee shops and eateries.

What are we as educators missing....we need to find a place for the 'third space' in our classrooms and schools if we are to truly reach our students and prepare them for the future.
