mynoteIT is an online note taking tool for students including a WYSIWYG note editor, assignment reminders, grade management, to do lists, manage your tasks with an online calendar and more.
Students can also share notes with friends and receive feedback through commenting on notes.
A similar online tool is Backpack.

Zotero (beta) is a free extension to use in the Firefox 2.0 browser.

This is a really great research tool and I only wish it had been around when I was writing my papers during university. It lives where most of us do our research these days....in our Firefox browser. It makes it so easy to organize your references.
